Meta to Require Political Advertisers to Disclose Use of A.I.

Meta has introduced a new policy requiring political advertisers to disclose the use of third-party AI software in their ads, particularly those that synthetically depict people and events. This move aims to address the challenges posed by the rise of consumer artificial intelligence and its impact on political advertising. The policy, which bars the use of Meta’s own AI-assisted software for creating such ads, will be enforced with penalties for non-disclosure and is part of Meta’s broader efforts to manage disinformation and misinformation on its platforms.
